Hi,finally plucked up the courage to contact my go about how I am feeling, very anxious, crying and worrying, mainly due to noisy inconsiderate neighbours, unable to move, could cope before but an argument a few weeks ago about noise seems to have triggered something off, always worried something is going to happen to one of us, I live with my mum and aunt who has rheumatoid arthritis, and constantly crying as well as little appetite and trouble sleeping, explained to the doctor who has advised me to try talking to someone and prescribed diazepam, 5mg, as a short term solution, has this helped anyone and can things get better? Thanks.

Good for you for finding the courage, it can be difficult to do. 💗
I have not taken Diazepam, but I did try Clonazepam. They are both Benzodiazepines and have somewhat similar properties, from what I have researched. You are wise to try the Diazepam for a short time solution, your doctor gave you good advice.
The Clonazepam helped me out during a difficult period in my life. It is the only medication I have tried for my GAD, actually. I took it as needed, in a very small dose, and this did work for me. It was like a crutch or an aid, so to speak. I chose to discontinue, once I felt more in control. I also used other coping mechanisms, along with the medication, which was a great help.
I will be honest and say that there came a point when I felt that I would have to "up my dose" for the Clonazepam to give me the same relief as it did when I was first prescribed. This was a huge factor in my decision to discontinue it.
As long as your doctor/provider is monitoring you and you keep it short term, there is a good chance that it will give you some relief.

Thank you for your reply, I have never done anything like this before, but it's so good to know that there are supportive people like you out there🌻
You are welcome, Gnomelover. 🌸
I too have used klonopin (clonazepam) occasionally for short term anxiety use and it has worked well for me. Of all of the meds I have tried, it was the only one that helped with the anxiety. It can be beneficial for situational anxiety but I found that for long term anxiety, like from trauma, that therapy and learning to accept the anxious thoughts and feelings was also required. Doctors typically don't want to prescribe it longterm anyway.
