Hope you are all ok. I have been prescribed Escitalopram but I am petrified to take it. Does anyone have any experiences etc with this medication. I am taking it for anxiety not depression. I am scared it will make me feel numb with no emotions, will I still get excited when my daughter brings me a drawing she has made me etc, will it change my personality and any side effects?
Thanks everyone xx

Thank you so much for your reply. Really appreciate your time. Do you remember any side effects at all? Also, sorry, will it make me lose enthusiasm for doing things? I love taking my little girl out and about and would hate for it to effect any of that by making me feel 'meh' if that makes sense.
Lexapro did not work for my anxiety. It's part of the class of antidepressants that increase serotonin. That appears to not me my problem because I tried zoloft and Prozac as well. They all are the same type of anti depressant. You may have to try a few to find the right one. You have to give it a mo th or so to see if you have any benefits. Do you take any meds for your anxiety currently? If so you may need them as you start this antidepressant. Good luck.
I took sertraline for 21 years pretty succesfully until last year, now my life is a hell of anxiety symptoms especially irregular heartbeat constantly. They want me to take Cymbalta and Im scared to take that now. What can we do to work up the courage to even try?
Hi, Cymbalta or Duloxetine is very good so give it a try. You did very well to be on same medication for 21 years. I was on Duloxetine for nearly 9 years but it seems to be not working so well so with help of my GP have changed over to another one. I would even try Magic Mushrooms which are the new Anti depressent but they are still trialling them in U.K. Why suffer so much when there is medication to help. Take care x
Hi I am about to start the same also for anxiety getting very anxious about it. Did you take it at a particular time of the day? How have you got along with it?
