TMS right side of brain treatment for anxiety

I am just getting to the end of my TMS treatments. 10 more to go. I am thinking about doing right side of the brain treatment, but wanted to see if anyone had any experience with right side brain treatment for TMS. I do feel better after my 26 treatments on the left, but still have anxiety and want to try it. Please share any helpful insights on the your TMS experience to help me make a decision.

Hi! I just finished my 3rd round of TMS, had 2 really successful rounds last year, this one not as much but I do feel better. I haven't heard of right sided treatment. As far as I know TMS doesn't do much for anxiety, which I also have, but I take Ativan when I need it and for me that helps. Frankly I'm glad to be done with treatment and wouldn't extend it anymore; was sick of going 5x/wk and during this round had thought of quitting because I wasn't getting the response I got from before. I had to take 2 weeks off towards the end due to illness and didn't want to go back but did finish it out. I've heard in some it can increase anxiety.

I do feel better and just wondering if anyone had right side treatment. There is very little feedback on it. They charge for it and not sure it really has any benefits. Thank you for sharing your TMS experience. Did you get treated with Neurostar equipment?

I did get treated with Neurostar equipment. As I said I didn't have the great outcome this round that I did with the other 2. Not sure I would do another round if needed, too much of a commitment. At least my Medicare paid for it. Am running out of options, am treatment resistant to meds and there are other treatments that I will NOT do(ECT, Ketamine, psychedelics ).

bethelbee, I hear what your saying!!! I haven't had TMS done, but I've been on and off almost every psyche med out there. One weird psychiatrist I saw wanted me to try Ketamine, it really felt like he just wanted to make money off of me

I would encourage you to look at TMS. It can be helpful

Thank you. I'm doing pretty bad and I'm losing hope.

Most insurance doesn't even cover Ketamine since I don't think it's FDA approved for use with MDD. Even if covered I wouldn't try it. Too many unknowns and I have heard that effects from it don't last very long. Yes, look into TMS. Many have had success with it. Some don't respond, but on the other end of the spectrum some go into remission for a long time. My positive responses to it lasted 6 months each of the first 2 times, but they were great 6 month reprieves from the deep throes of depression. My therapist is the one that initially told me about it last year, hadn't heard about it before then. She said she has a couple clients that have been in remission for at least over a year or more.

Thanks. I'm scared to death that sooner or later I'm going to end up having shock therapy the way I'm going. I just got off of this new drug Vrylar back to Zyprexa. The Vrylar somewhat helped but then I was getting restless leg syndrome. Sorry guynfl2chat, didn't mean to hijack your post.

Actually many have had success with ECT, but there is a risk of memory issues afterward. And, by the way you're asleep for the treatments.

I had my first right side treatment and I’m amazed how much better I feel. I want more. I’m going through an extremely stressful time and I feel I can better focus and have less rumination. Works for me!!

That's great to hear. I assume you had to pay for this treatment as it not covered by insurance. It's been over a year since I completed my TMS treatments. I am not sure if it helped my anxiety.

I hope I don’t pay more. I don’t know. The doctor came in and suggested I do my right side. But it really did it for me. I’ll look into the insurance issue. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
