Hi there, I recently was prescribed Hydroxazine for my anxiety and I wanted to know people’s thoughts on it.
I wanted to start on something that had a lower risk for addiction to start on, and this was my doctors suggestion.

Literally just started this medication this week for anxiety spot treatment, and it's working wonders for me. Fair warning, I do feel very much like a zombie right after taking it, and for a couple hours after, but it allows me to turn the part of my brain that catastrophizes off and relax a little bit. I am taking it on a regiment right now while I wait for my long term anxiety and depression med to start working, but I'm hopeful that over time I can decrease the amount that I need it.
I have taken it in the past. It helped to some extent, but not as well as benzodiazepines. But it is not highly addictive like benzos so it is much safer. After I took hydroxyzine for a while I got a tolerance to it and it did not work so well. I suppose that is common for many medications.
I tried it and didn’t work for me, it made me feel sedated and drugged and it gave me a panic attack because of it. I only took it once though but couldn’t handle the side effect so yeah. Though I think most people would like it I am just weird. Go figure my anxiety and depression doesn’t like it
I've taken it for my anxiety. It REALLY gave me the antihistamine hangover. For some it works well. For me, it made me groggy with the 24 hour hangover.
I never heard of it. Is there another name it goes by??? I've been on Ativan for a while which usually helps, but every so often I have a day(like today) where my anxiety is sky high and Ativan isn't doing much at all. Trying breathing exercises but not helping...As you know it's a horrible feeling....
Thx for your reply! I do know vistiril and atarax; was prescribed to me years ago for itching.
