Hi FriedrichAtaxia, I may not be in a wheelchair but know others that are.My dear friend from childhood has Ataxia as well as her 2 brothers. Another
young lady I know was born with severe Cerebral Palsy. She can't speak well and
scoots around in her motorized wheelchair. She's gone to college and is presently working
full time. Her favorite saying is "Life is Good"....
I have found that people with disabilities have more gratitude of life then most of us.
We may be walking on 2 legs but are disabled in deeper ways. Think about that next
time you wish you could do the things you did before. There are 2 sides to this coin.
We are what we make life to be at the moment.
Sending you gentle hugs and a smile xx
Definitely; where I live I can't use a wheelchair due to vertical geography, and I cannot drive any more due to failing sight, so I stagger about on sticks or a rollator, with the constant possibility of falls.
I used to love walking coastal paths, or climbing, skiing, riding, all kinds of outdoor pursuits which are now not possible, so I have to be a Computer Traveller; but at least I don't get the bad weather! Yes, I get a little down from time to time, but there are compensations.
Cheers, Midori
Yes.
