Effexor

Hello, my name is Anna , does anyone have any experience being on Effexor for anxiety and depression (low mood)? If so, did you taper off, we’re the withdrawals bad?

No personal experience.

Effexor is well known for bad--sometimes very bad--withdrawal symptoms.

I have seen omega 3 and diphenhydramine (Benadryl, but check formulation) suggested to help.

My wife went through 4 or 5 antidepressants before her Psychiatrist prescribed her Effexor. She says it's the first one that keeps her "even". One works well for her, while the others (Lexapro, Wellbutrin, Zoloft) didn't do anything for her depression and side anxiety.

I have been on effexor (venlafaxine) for 15+ years, steadily increasing to 225mg which is my current dose.It does help, not 100% for me but I like to feel like I haven't been fully numbed, if you know what I mean.

There is a Facebook group for venlafaxine that has a lot of members with experience which may help you.

With me I would say coming off is hard, if I miss one day I get tunnel vision and headaches, a sort of feeling of not being part of your body. Its wierd I must admit and not pleasant. However, everyone is different so you may be OK.

I would definitely check out the FB group as you'll get more insight.
