Sertralin and Melatonin. Can I use them both?

I am on my 3rd week of sertralin 100mg. The insomnia is killing me. Moreover, I have periodical limb movements at night. I can't rest properly. I am a teacher. In the morning I start giving classes. But I am like a zombie. I am not productive at work. Can I take Melatonin pills before going to sleep for a better rest?

I’d recommend calling your pharmacist and asking! They are usually super helpful and knowledgeable

I tried melatonin a few times and it didn’t help. I wasn’t sure if it was bc it interacted badly with my other meds or what, but it made me feel awful.

I hope it works for you and if not, I hope you find something that works!! I teach too, and being tired while teaching sucks 😭😭

I used to take sertraline and now take Lexapro (both SSRIs) and take melatonin almost nightly with my psychiatrist's guidance.. The only issue I have ever had was if I took too high of a dosage, I would have vivid nightmares. If you decide to take it, I would recommend talking to your main prescriber or pharmacist or starting at 1/2 mg melatonin and work your way up to a dose that works best for you. My magic number is 3 mg.

highly reccomend CBDsleep gummies- they have small amounts of melatonin depending on the brand you get

I had trouble sleeping for years but i pop one gummy before bed and get a good solid at minimum 6-8 hrs sleep, it would take a bomb going off to wake me...

Sertraline has somewhat helped me with anxiety. Not so much with depression. I am going to discuss this with my dr next week.
