Dual diagnosis

Hi. I have depression, psychosis and a drug addiction. Lost my job last year because I was "unlikely to recover". GP's keep referring me to Mental Health Services who keep rejecting me. Flat out refuse to do anything to help. Depression came first, then addiction. DWP = severely disabled. Unable to work. NHS literally have policies for dual diagnosis which are being ignored. I give up.

Don't give up!!!! Your first steps are to stop using drugs and alcohol to cope!!!! And try not to smoke cigarettes either. What about groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous?????

Go back to one of the GPs who referred you for services and tell them you are being denied. NHS or other mental health providers may not listen to you but they are likely to listen to a medical doctor. I don’t know anything but it sure seems to me that your GP has the responsibility to follow up and fight for you. That is their freaking job! As for your responsibility? Don’t give up. Ever. You have to survive in order to eventually thrive. Easy words to say and really hard to do . I know. But you can do it.

GP's are informed on each occasion that their referrals have been refused. GP's do not work for the NHS, whereas MH Services do. I have made two PALS complaints and had an advocate from MindOut too. The Service Manager of Brighton Assessment and Treatment Services said that the Clinical Commissioning Group who run the services across Sussex will not fund any treatment or support for drug users. This is a breach of Public Health England's policy on dual diagnosis, NICE guidelines and GMC best practice. They literally do not care that I've attempted suicide on three occasions. There is nothing a GP can do to insist on anything. They refer; that is it.

This will cost me my life.
