Hi All! I hope everyone is having the best day they can today. I'm writing here looking for some advice on a few things. Right now I use counseling at my University, but I'm about to run out of appointments I am allowed to have, so I'm looking outside. My counselor knows all about me, my struggles, trauma, and what's going on with me. She referred me to an eating disorder clinic, and ED therapist, and a trauma clinic. This is a bit confusing to me, because I don't feel like I have ED issues, I eat normally I feel like, I just hate my body and really struggle with poor and distorted self image. But, I feel my main issues are trauma and my anxiety. I reached out to the trauma clinic but there's a waiting list that's months long to get in, and I don't know what I can handle right now. Do I have something that ED therapy could help with? What can I do about getting a therapist now that I'm out of time? I'm so overwhelmed and confused and scared I have no idea what's wrong with me and no one can seem to figure it out. Any help or suggestions or even support is appreciated ever so much. I'm so grateful for this community.

Therapy Struggles plz help!!!
Not sure if they can or talk to the front desk and see if she or he can get u someone to talk to. If you want to talk u can talk to anyone here. Glad you have joined. U are not alone we all here for each other. I've learned reading about others and realized it not just me. Be praying things fall in place for you.
I am having decent luck with online therapy. We zoom, use FaceTime or phone. I am not sure if that is more available to you but worth checking.
A good therapist is important, one that listens to your individual needs. Doesn't sound like she's listening. Many churches offer it free and have qualified therapists, esp the larger churches. Also, if you want to try some natural aides here are a few: Magnesium glycinate is great for depression/anxiety, taking it in the evenings will help you sleep too. Ginseng is great to get rid of sticky negative thoughts that loop. Going outside barefoot gets you grounded and so balances out emotions. Walks are great to work thru problems and leave them behind. Volunteering is also great to get the mind off of ones' own problems, give purpose and find like minded friends. Hope these help your family member and they are helpful for all of us. <3 Speak positive truths to counter the negative thoughts or feelings, out loud to hear them too, over and over. Retrain your brain by writing a gratitude journal too. <3
