Had a rough day.

Hello you guys. Hope you are all doing well, because I certainly didn't have a great day. In the morning I knew that things weren't going right. I felt a severe drop in my energy level. In the middle of doing some work, I got very depressive thoughts. I tried to keep going but it was too much so I took a rain check. I played some video games to distract myself. In the afternoon I fell asleep on my chair and when I woke up my spirits lifted. I decided to spend time with my pets and thankfully they convinced me that things were going to be all right. How do you guys manage when you have the blues? I could do with some tips.

Hey! I’m so sorry to hear your day went through a rollercoaster. Recently, I’ve been feeling a rather crushing sensation that all will go wrong and been dumped with the most depressive thoughts. All effort and progress that I’ve made in therapy has been thrown out the window.

How do I cope? Very bad days will result in me wanting to stay in bed all day and not be conscious to the crushing reality of my thoughts. But most of the time, I tend to put some music on or go for a walk or take photos. I remember that I’m still very much alive and here and note down 5 things that I’m grateful for. Also cooking yourself your favourite meal is definitely up there in my list of methods of cheering up. I like to be alone or have my boyfriend by my side if I feel like I need company.

I hope you’ll have some more sunny days ahead of you. I know how disheartening it all feels at times, but in the end it always gets better. :)

Thanks a million Ronnie. Music, taking a walk, taking photos, taking note of things to be grateful for, cooking. Got it. I will try putting them into my practice. Here's me hoping you are doing well.

Hi Joeyman,Best tips I can offer are what works for me and hopefully you can utilize!

I'll reach out to people who I can trust and I know wont give me advice, will just be lending an ear.

Other times I will drive on the highway singing/screaming to my music (I listen to heavy metal so it's good genre to vent to). The drive will usually end with me swinging/walking in a park contemplating. A favorite quote of mine is "there's no rest for the wicked so I must be as evil as it get". Sounds like it defeats the purpose but for me finding a quote with good context behind it (the song is about someone living on despite going through so much in their past) helps me too!

Be well and safe friend, hopefully these tips help.
