Paxil and weight gain

I’ve been on Paxil for 7 weeks to help with my anxiety. It has helped my IBS-d issues so much. My concern now is that I just want to eat. While Paxil is working for me, I really don’t want to gain weight. I just need some advice please.

I took Paxil for some time and did not gain weight. You may want to eat more because you are more relaxed. The weight gain, however is not caused by the Paxil.

Hi I just started Paxil & noticed my appetite came back right away. Taking for severe anxiety, panic & depression. What time of day do you take it? I been taking in the morning but it makes me extremely drowsy all day!! Best of luck too you! Wish I had advise for you!

Hi! I was on Paxil for 20+ years and it was a life changer, but it stop working about 5 years ago and I haven’t been the same since. I don’t remember it making me gain weight but I have always had to be aware of what I eat and how much I exercise. I would do anything to go back to the days when Paxil worked or to find something that works as well. My thought is if it helps your anxiety take it and make modifications to your diet and exercise routine. Your appetite might settle in after your body gets used to the new medication. Just my thoughts. Best of luck to you!!!

Thanks so much. That’s too bad it stopped working for you. Yes, I plan on staying on this because it has helped me tremendously. I’m modifying my meals and will hope for the best. Hope you find something that works.

I know this is an old post, but I wanted to say the same for me with years of Paxil, then stopped working.

But believe it or not, a last resort effort about a year ago with Paxil --- and it started working again!!
