How do I break this cycle?

I woke up with bad anxiety and it's making not want to get up or do anything today. The idea of not doing anything is making me depressed. But I feel paralyzed by my anxiety. I'm too scared to even take a shower.

I used to struggle severely with anxiety. For weeks at a time, I felt like I couldn’t breathe. My panic attacks were unpredictable, severe, and frequent, sometimes striking multiples times a day. I felt like my future was uncertain; my friendships might all fall apart; I could die this afternoon. Exercise. Crawl, Walk then Run. Crawl for 20-30 minutes a day. Why? The chemical ’Endorphins” are released which make you feel great for 3 hours and give you a ‘buzz” for up to 24 hours. It will change your life.

Take breaks and do things you enjoy. Reading, Walking your Dog, Going Outside a few times a day to take a walk and smell and see nature, take a drive, listen to some great

Staying in bed is the worst thing you can do, you just lie there stewing about all your symptoms and problems exaggerated to the power of ten by anxiety.

If you get up and go outside and go for a walk where there are trees and grass and sky and you'll feel loads better.

No reason to feel scared, nothing threatens you, nothing bad is going to happen, it's all because of our turbocharged imagination running riot.

You need to decide on an escape plan to release you from the confinement of high anxiety and pursue it whether that means therapy, meds or a good self-help book.

Thank you for this comment because I often just lie on my bed too when anxiety attacks. But one time when I had the palpitations and chest tightening all day, I noticed once I went outside to work on the yard, the symptom slowly diminished. So from now on, I will keep moving when I feel it coming.

Hi- One of my sisters used to struggle severely from anxiety. She had palpitations whenever she had panic attacks. There were times that she almost collapsed. She used to be so sad and isolated herself. She lost the joy of doing things that she used to love.

I encouraged her to join a life group to help her feel less lonely. At first she was hesitant because she’s shy but eventually she appreciates it. Now, she is back to her old self. She does things that she loves like gardening, walking her dogs, decorating her house and she also volunteers.

Try to do things that you will enjoy. If possible, walk outdoors especially with sunlight. Check with your doctor. I hope you can get the help you need to stay strong. Please keep us posted, we are here for you. God bless.
