i lost my dad many many years ago... that was a living hell...

in many ways this is far worse - with emotional swings beyond way back then... you'd think you might handle this better - with experience... but all the 'stuff' going on... it's even worse....

No worries. This is a safe place to let down and vent. Narcissists are THE WORST of the personality disorders. I have found in dealing with them they take take take and give nothing, absolutely nothing in return. My only advice, such as it is. When you first feel triggered by them, stop and disengage, immediately. You do NOT have to play by their rules of engagement. Neither do you have to try and rationalize their B.S. and manipulations... Easy to say and conceptualize, hard to practice. Stay strong and stay on the planet.
