Severe generalised anxiety and stomach problems

For wks I've had chronic diarrhoea and abdominal pain which is worsening the Generalised anxiety . Feel like jumping out of my skin. Headache and paresthesia in head. Does anyone else deal with this?

Its impacting depression as well with awful thoughts of not wanting to be alive anymore.

Tried increasing mittazapine to 22.5mg over last wk from 15mg but still the same.

Depersonalisation evident. Can barely speak to family, stuck in sensations.

Have you taken anything to stop the diarrhea? Imodium, fybogel, probiotics. The gut and brain are very connected, also with the increase of mirtazapine, side effects can take time to settle down. Speak to gp or pharmacist they might be able to give you something to help out. Drink plenty of water to keep you hydrated

Try taking probiotics or include fermented food in the diet? I have gut problems since young. Taking escitalopram gives me diarrhoea/ soft stool daily but better than constipation from venlafaxine.

Gut health affects or bring on depression. Fact!

Try using a heat pad to deal with abdominal pain. Worked for me sometimes.

Thankyou. Yep my gut has had problems for 18mths now. This episode started with stomach acid reflux and insomnia then generalised anxiety and depression. Taking probiotic but no change. Tried plain food, tried fasting for a day, tried adding veg in, still 6 - 14 diarrhoea per day. Fermented foods difficult to stomach I find. Did kefir for a bit but incase of dairy intolerance stopped that

That's tough. I too live with stomach problems on a regular basis. But it does improve with some stretching and yogic breathing exercises. Let me know when you figure out what works. We keep trying and be there for each other

I have this every morning and have for the past 6 months. The minute I wake I’m on the loo and keep going until my tummy is empty. Doesn’t happen for the rest of the day I had it checked by the doctor but nothing came back, however to be on the safe side she has referred me and got to do another sample and have a ct scan.

I’m almost sure it’s the anxiety but you may wanna get it checked out.

I did try Imodium and cutting out milk etc but didn’t make any difference

If you're having thoughts of not wanting to be around anymore please talk to someone. There are resources at adaa.org/ to help.

I get diarrhea and nausea from anxiety. I also get headaches and chest aches from tension. I get 'pins and needles', burning sensations and cold all over my body. I get dizzy and brain fog. I get tired, fatigued and obsessive about symptoms. Sometimes I'm so tensed I have a hard time sleeping. Sometimes I sleep just fine. Sometimes I get through a day without a headache. Some days I'm not dizzy at all. All of this is from my friend, anxiety, and my reaction to it.

What do I do? I try to be as accepting as I can and realize my body is sensitized and over-reacting. I know this is the case by how little it takes to get me angry, frustrated or anxious during these periods. I know that is not my normal (baseline) reaction to whatever is causing my feelings. Just knowing that yields some peace in my system.

After you talk with someone read Dr. Claire Weekes book 'Hope and Help for your Nerves.'
