Hi all. I’ve mentioned a few times that I’ve struggled with health anxiety for much of my life. It’s taken many forms and been severe, mild, and everywhere in between. As it is now, I can be happy and content for long stretches but when I feel a particular symptom it suddenly takes the wind out of my sails. I feel myself starting to obsess and worry about what it means and almost immediately switch from feeling pretty good to feeling really lousy. I feel like I’m reverting to a place I thought I’d left behind for good. Thankfully it doesn’t last that long but it is really discouraging. Does that pattern resonate with anyone? It just happened and that’s what motivated me to write. Putting that aside I wish everyone a new year that has all of us feeling better than in 2020!

Happy new years! Yes, mine has given me hospital stays and crisis visits. I feel it throughout the year but oh, boy towards the end if the year, like Now! It's not fun. To get through, i try to keep doing little things. Nothing in particular, just trying to distract myself intentionally. It does eventually pass. Good luck 😁

Many thanks, UFC80, for reminding me that these feelings eventually pass. They always do.

That’s exactly what I need! Thank you wounded Soldier.

I’ve had health anxiety since I was a teenager. I didn’t even know it had a name until I found this place! I don’t live under a rock so I was kind of surprised I’d never seen or heard it mentioned before. Also I never realized how many people suffer from it. Not that I wish it on anyone but it was kind of a relief to find out I wasn’t alone. Anyway, it’s just as you described, you are just fine one moment and suddenly totally obsessing the next. It’s scary and takes away joy. I’ve not really found any way to make it better. It seems to subside by its self.

Thank you, Catgirl. You might want to look up The Anxiety Guy on Google. He has a lot of good info as he found a way to conquer his health anxiety. If we keep trying I’m confident we will as well. In the meantime knowing it is temporary each time it happens, as you said, helps a lot,
