Struggling during the Christmas Season

All of us have struggled this year due to the Pandemic and in a lot of ways. That is definitely an understatement...these are unprecedented times that we are living in. And, for many people, the Christmas season and the holidays can be hard for a lot of us. I know that for me personally, this year, with my Dad's health declining, being faced with an upcoming move for my family and I in the next couple of months; that I am truly struggling during this Christmas and Advent season. I am having a difficult time in finding the real reason for the season. And, I know the "real reason for the season"; but, this year, it is a lot harder for me to feel that joy and happiness when my parents health is declining and knowing that down the road they will no longer be in my life. And, I am not ready to face that loss and emptiness in my life. And, I know people say, "life goes on" and "you have to move on with your life". I know that in my heart....it's still hard to fathom that and to grasp that whole concept. I wish everyone here a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!

Hi. Yes a lot of us have struggled this year. Im sorry to hear your parents health is declining. Please ignore these people that say life goes on, you need to move on. Yes life goes on without them, life changes. Maybe the ones that say these things have never lost both parents. My last parent passed in '13 and I am an only child. I miss them everyday and this time of year is hard for me. No one grieves the same way and no one has the right to tell you how to grieve and that you need to move on. Its been seven years for me and I grasp the concept and don't like it but here I am. I wish you a merry Christmas and I hope you spend time with your family and make some wonderful memories.
