I am in a very off type of mood today. I keep telling myself I need to go to the doctor to resolve my intrusive thoughts. I have been fearful all day that I have an underlying health condition that needs to be diagnosed. My thoughts are driving me crazy. Cancer is my biggest fear. I have been anxious all day I don't know what to do

Hi nice to meet you. This is health anxiety and is very common. Have a look round the site and you will see loads of similar posts. Also if you type your criteria under search, old posts and replies will come up too. Have you tried therapy? This should help too.

Thank you! I did try it last month and went to a few sessions but I decided to end it because I feel like I wasn't getting the help I wanted. I actually ended up feeling worse.

That can happen with therapy. Can you try another therapist? If you do, try and hang in there for a little longer than you did before. It takes a little while to know if your therapist is a good fit. I have had to change therapists a few times. I have a really nice one now so I'm gonna hang in there, but I'm not sure she's helping much. Mostly just being a good listener.

Good luck.♡

Hi, and welcome here. It sounds like a common fear, as others have said, and when I have an intrusive thought I try to remember it is just a thought, and not a FACT or I view the thought like a passing cloud and don't try to interact with it and give it the attention it craves. It does not always work, but it can sometimes. Hope this helps.

You are not alone. I often have intrusive thoughts. I try to practice bringing my mind back to the hear and now because often these thoughts come when you are either ruminating on the past or not feeling optimistic about the future. Breathing exercises from the diaphragm can help, as can meditation.
