Withdrawls

I’ve been taking citalopram for a couple years now and i decided a few months back that i’d go from two pills daily to one pill daily, in an effort to eventually quit. When i did that i woke up a few nights later puking on my bathroom floor. Anyone who’s dealt with SSRIs knows my pain, today i just went down to half a pill a day and i’m concerned about having strong depression and anxiety the next few days/weeks. It’s a shame that the drugs meant to help can also make things worse.

Could be too drastic of a reduction...have the doctor who prescribed these help you. There has to be a way, and when the time is right.

those were actually his instructions he told me to half the dosage ever couple weeks but i’ve been taking months between lowering dosages out of fear lol

Sorry to hear about this! You should reach out to him and explain what you’re experiencing. There are different options to help with any depression and anxiety that might work for you while you taper off. SSRIs are tricky bc they work different on everyone. Wishing you the best!

Many docs don't know anything about AD withdrawal. There's s really useful website called survivingantidepressants.org which provides advice (not by medical people!).
