Oh my have I!!! I gained a lot after initially gaining from Paxil (right before going on remeron). But I am happier for sure. It does suck to struggle with weight though. Are you taking it?

Yes they are the same. How are you doing on it? Are you happier?

I was on it for a few years but got off of it. I didnt really make me happier but it helped me sort out my anxiety issues. My main issue with it is that while taking it I felt very emotionally numb (with depression that just made the numbness worse). Do or did you have that issue or anything like it?

Oh and since this thread is about weight gain I almost forgot to mention that getting off of it helped me to lose some weight, it made it easier for me to not do as much comfort eating.

How much of a struggle did you have getting off Remeron? Had you been on it a long time?

No I did not

I do think it helps my anxiety but I'll have to find something else because being overweight just makes me more depressed.

I am taking it but weening off currently. I have gained 20 lbs since starting it. It also treats anorexia. I don't have anorexia so I gained unwanted weight.

Well I do hope you find something just as good without the weight gain. It’s helping me mentally/emotionally so much that I decided I will just work extra hard to loose and keep off weight. I hear you though I do get depressed about it too. Sigh 😔

yep

I'm on it haven't put any on yet

Oh my yes! It was a blessing in the beginning. My doctor saw I had lost too much weight, and for me the Remeron forces you to eat, especially carbs. I disliked sweets all my life and this stuff gave me relentless cravings. I went from low weight to overweight. Told the doctor how it bothered me. Tough cookies. What do they think, balancing the pros and cons, that overweight isn't a health hazard too????

But now, years later, Remeron does nothing good for me anymore. It just pooped out. From what I hear, I'm not the only on this happens to.

Is Remeron also an SSRI? Because paxil did for me exactly what you just described, with the difference being that I already had A sweet tooth before I took it.

I just searched it:

"Remeron is a tetracyclic antidepressant and Celexa is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI)."

Paxil pooped out on you after a bit?

Remoron is helping my symptoms but the weight gain is just not ok. I need to talk to my Dr. to see if there is another medication instead. Ya, paxil never worked very well, maybe a slight difference, so I discontinued it.

My word ,, I just found out in the UK, Remeron is called mirtazapine is. Did you change to something else in the end?
