Each anti depressant works and effects people differently. It could be either withdrawal from the Effexor or side effects from the new medication. Normally you would first taper from the current one and then start the new one , but you didnt have that option. You should contact your doctor and let them know the symptoms you are getting.
I'm really sorry to hear this but your feelings are normal for someone suddenly having to stop an SSRI antidepressant and not out of choice. This should not really be happening. The good news is that the new tablet should start to work within a few weeks. Please hang on in there. I can understand your anxiety is probably through the roof. You could take some Diazepam or another benzodiazepine tranquilliser such as Lorazepam or Xanax In the meantime. This would really help temporarily so please ask your doctor or pharmacy for some.
