Coping

First time in an online support group. I’ve dealt with anxiety depression just about my whole life and I’m now in my mid-40’s. My husband is a wonderful man and he takes over when I’m in what I call an episode but he’s never experienced this and can’t understand it. While I recognize anxiety is with me daily, I cope with it but for some reason whenever I get sick, it kicks in to a point where I have a hard time functioning. I miss work and feel like I’m letting everyone down. I feel alone....I look at people going about their life and find myself wondering how they do it. Surely I can’t be the only one.

Hi Christine,

I think you may have seen my comment on a few other posts. Your comments encouraged me to reach out to you. I know how horrible anxiety and loneliness feel. I am sure you have seen my other comments by now, but I too spent the majority of my life dealing with anxiety and depression. I never thought in a million years I would be able to get rid of it. I thought it was a part of me I would have to live with forever. I was wrong, so so wrong. I have conquered my anxiety and depression- it is possible. :) A few years ago I read a book that changed my life completely. It taught me everything I needed to know about myself, and it gave me the blueprints to a better life. It taught me how to get rid of anxiety and depression and how to better myself every day. My purpose in life is to help others as much as I have been helped. If you are interested in reading a beautiful and life-changing book, I can send you my electronic copy via email, or post it on this comment chain. I tell you this with a full heart, a better life is waiting for you. Much Love <3

I'd like the name of the book and how to get a copy. I am still learning how to use things such as how to give you my email without telling the entire world. Have a good day.

I will just post it on here. drive.google.com/file/d/13-...

Hopefully that link works! Technology still confuses me :) Just download it to your phone/computer :) My email is carrieroflight96@gmail.com if you have questions and want to chat outside of this where the whole world doesn't see. :)

Hi I am so glad but also envious you have cracked this awful curse/illness whatever you want to call it. I’m in one of my desperate spells at the moment where I fell numb and empty and can’t think of anything else but how to get rid of this feeling. Seems like I’ve read every book there is and it all sounds great and makes sense but I regardless I just sit here stewing over my thoughts and feelings spiralling down and down wishing I wasn’t here anymore

Hi JP26, I completely understand and I am here for you if you would like motivation/encouragement. I promise you, it is possible to overcome this and to have a beautiful, wonderful life! When people told me that when I was struggling, I would always roll my eyes and think to myself "impossible". But I was wrong. Whatever you put your mind to, you can do. I am just going to post the link to the book here so that you don't have to exchange any of your private data over the chat. I hope this link works haha, I am still new to this technology thing! :)

Thanks for sharing, it seems very deep and spiritual. How did you put into practice the advice, to allow your thoughts and feelings and surrender to them?

I started focusing on having a better life and made my primary intentions to conquer myself and develop a greater connection with God. What you focus on is what you manifest in your life. I realized I was focusing so much on my anxiety, depression and negative thoughts, that it started to take control of my life. So, I made the decision to grow (that is when I found this book). I started focusing my attention on a better life, better people, better career, etc., and before I knew it, my whole life started changing (the practices in the book taught me how to do this). Surrendering is challenging at first. But I always remind myself of this question when I am feeling challenged "1. I can either let my emotions and mind control my life and continue to live miserably as I always have OR 2. I can finally conquer my mind and emotions, and in return, live that beautiful, exciting life without them holding me back". The decision to grow has been the most rewarding and exciting decision I have ever made. Anything and everything is possible :)

You aren’t the only one Christine, but if you’re like me you don’t and won’t believe that others like myself have it as bad, I certainly don’t believe that. Your story sounds so similar to mine which reassured me a little, hopefully that makes you feel a little less alone too.

No, you are not the only one. Anxiety and depression are some of the most common (yet still somewhat underestimated) illnesses. Covid has made things worse. Don't compare yourself with anyone, not even your husband. Be verbally appreciative of all that your husband does and supports you. Take care and hope you find help for your anxiety on a daily basis by sharing with someone how you feel, focusing on the good, going for walks and eating healthy.

Welcome. You are not alone...it is extremely easy to get caught up in anxiety especially with all that is going on in our world these days.

Maybe one of these would be helpful for you? list.ly/list/4RqZ-peace-for....

So thankful that your husband is supportive of you, even though he may not fully understand. Have you considered speaking with a licensed counselor about what you are going through? Or having your husband speak with one to have more ideas of ways to help you or empathize with you? Hope it helps.
