I’m still looking at this bottle of Celexa on my dresser, scared to take it! I’m trying to battle this on my own. But I’m Mentally getting drained. I just started therapy so I’m hoping that works!

Hi Tweetg :) I see the bottle of Celexa is causing you additional anxiety by looking

at it and not taking it. I was so like you at one time. But it just wasn't one bottle, it

was many bottles of help before me that my pantry began to look like a pharmacy.

Each time I would go to the doctor with my hand out for "help" and each time I would

go home and place that bottle on the shelf. Fear of the possible effect of that medication.

It's terrible to live in fear each and every day, it is truly mentally exhausting, I hear you.

We do ourselves an injustice when we don't trust in our physicians who want nothing more

than to give us some quality of life. You're not alone with this feeling. Medications are one

of the hardest things for us *with anxiety, to take. What do we fear more, getting better or

it not working?? The unknown but we won't know until we give it a chance. You can always

get off it.

Medication can be the bridge between therapy and getting better.

Trust me in that I know what I'm saying. My fear of medication was sooo bad that I finally

took my SSRI while I was in the hospital. It helped, it really truly helped me. That was when

I realized that I needed to help myself, help the doctor.

Now when ever I should have to try a new medication, I don't hesitate. I take the first pill when someone is around, write down the time and name of medication and then go on with

my day. Do not sit there in anticipation waiting for something to happen. Time will give you

the results that you've been waiting for. We support you and understand. Good Luck :) xx

If you can feel better without taking the medication you are bettter off without it. I have been taking meds for about 30 years and they do have some long term negative effects. If at all possible it is good to avoid taking psych meds IMO.

If you dont think you need the meds or they will make things worse then dont take them. I promise it does get better. Hang in there.

There are natural forms to help the depression. I like Tyrosine but Ignatia help fears for me. Everyone is different. There are foods that help. Love green tea especially when it is chilly.

I try to think positive, not enter fight or flight and understand the window of tolerance to have a window that focuses on a place where I have visited or can imagine I have felt peace, sending my mind back there to remind my nervous system of what that was like. Can do it instantly if I truly have such a place for that brain to focus. My nervous system instantly remembers, thanks to the brain reminding the body.

I sometimes try to stay present, seek what joy I can focus on, stay grounded, whatever that is for me at the time and touching my thymus gland, slowly three times over the heart on the sternum. This also is an avenue to help me calm myself.

Worry is my downfall when it overwhelms. I try to not allow it and persevere. While it is not easy I think of times when I succeeded, one step at a time literally as my mobility is severely affected by pain and worry. It literally affects my health. Stubbornness makes me refuse to succumb to overwhelming my nervous system.

Hope this dissipates for you soon as we need to decrease fear and regain hope!
