This is a symptom of anxiety. It cannot hurt you

It’s a thought it’s not real, you are safe. Do you have something to hug like a stuffed animal or I would put my bib Lyon my chest to relax me.

This sounds similar to the well known symptom of anxiety called Globus Hystericus where you feel that there's a lump in your throat blocking it. I had it once years ago and when your anxiety reduces it goes away.

So keep reminding yourself that it's your anxiety playing tricks on you. For complete reassurance you should see your doctor and get him or her to examine your throat.

You're going to be o.k., just accept the feeling for the time being, accept it without fear. Fear only makes it continue.

I too have the same issue. There are times there is muscle pain on my chest, it comes and goes, sometimes I feel it could be something serious but then I realize I actually suffer from severe anxiety

Yes, it's muscular tension in the chest brought on by anxiety overload. I think it makes it a bit easier when we understand how our nervous system works when stresses occur: at least we're no longer bewildered by what the Hell's happening.

Knowing also stops our imagination from running riot so we don't add further anxiety for our nerves to cope with.

Hi Vannessa x Jeff1943 is so right in that knowing what causes the problem can help

reduce some of the "what ifs". This is something I use to get a lot. Anxiety may be the

root of the problem but there is also a posture issue. I can bet that in the state you are

in, your shoulders are up to your ears and your head is jutted forward putting additional

strain on those already tighten muscles.

Can you think back at what started this feeling? Accepting the issue causing it is a step

forward. Doing something positive to relieve the physical symptoms is another step.

And as Jeff suggested, always see your doctor if it doesn't go away.

We're all here to support you Vannessa. You are not alone in this. Breathe and try

to relax. :) xx
