Fear of food that i cook at home.

Anyone else have a fear of food they have cooked but can eat it from out, like takeaway or already cooked?

It's bothering me because I can't seem to get my head around it. People usually eat from home so they know its cooked properly and they know how it's been cooked. I am The opposite way around. So if I cook meat I think I haven't cooked it properly or scared that it's not right. Then it tastes weird to me and I don't finish my food because the hunger goes and I end up wasting food that i cooked. Then I'm scared that my daughter will get ill because she's ate it. I have never been ill off eating food before and neither has my daughter so I don't even k ow where this has come from. I eat out alot as I have a busy schedule with my work. Out Monday to Thursday from 8 in morning untill 8 at night. Wonder if I have gotten so use to eating out alot but even that's causing me anxiety other my health and that's why I'm trying to cook at home but can't seem to eat it after i have cooked.

you know it’s really not about the food; all in your mind. but of course simply rationalizing that doesnt make it go away.

so that said, couple suggestions for you:

try frozen pre-cooked meals. all you are doing is thawing/ re-heating, so you cant mess it up. you could literally eat them frozen and it wouldnt hurt you. ( but yuk!)

when cooking meat, as long as its fresh the only thing you can do wrong is under cook it. so use it soon after you buy it, keep it refrigerated until cooking, and smell it when you open the package (if you can’t tell then it’s ok; if it’s spoiled you will know) Then just always cook it well done.

also dont use a wooden cutting board for meats, and dont usethe same board for raw meats and anything else without washing with hot water in between.

google search “food safety.” learn to be extra cautious. fastidious. even obsessive. dont worry what anyoneelse thinks. you knowthat you are really doing it tosolve a different problem, and whatever works is good. when you know you’ve done everything right you may notbe so anxious.

also know that your even when people do get sick from bad foot they usually get better on their own, and it almost never causes long lasting problems.
