Depression...

Need advice... my husband is feeling quite down with pretty much everything lately. It's causing a real strain. Anyone have some advice as to how to handle this depression state he seems to be entering? Anywhere I can turn? (He's super stubborn.... and most likely won't reach out to anyone)

Hello there! A great question. It's hard to see a loved one struggle, especially when it feels like there's nothing you can do to relieve it. If we could all take the pain away from those we love, we all would.

To answer your question; remain patient and open to talk whenever he may need it. It may not come in the form of a big spectacle or conversation. It could very well be something he says in passing that feels heavier than the content of the words themselves. Just being there for him is enough, and patience is the key there. It's difficult, but the line to walk is making it clear you're there for him no matter what, and not pushing the topic past his boundaries.

I'm sorry to hear this is causing a strain. It's an unfortunate byproduct of these things. However, once things start to clear, whether it's something you face together or not, he will appreciate and remember your kindness to him and patience with him through this difficult time. In my experience, the smallest bits of kindness or "I get it" or "it's okay you feel this way" from my girlfriend when I'm in a bad headspace goes so much further than you could imagine.

Sometimes the little means the most.

Thank you. I really needed to hear this. I appreciate it more than you know. I'm trying, hard core... it's just really hard at times. Especially for our kiddos. Brave face on always takes a toll. Thank you for responding, it means a lot
