Advice Needed due to Covid-19 Pandemic

Those who are also struggling with Depression/Anxiety I was hoping to get some feedback about your successes in combatting your own struggles now in the midst of shutting yourself away from the world due to Local laws and policies prohibiting you to be able to get in person Mental Health Therapy. I have tried doing virtual counseling and something about it just isn't the same. It could be that I don't have the privacy of going into an office and being one on one with only my therapist being able to hear my struggles.

Anyways I'm new to this online thing today so hope I'm doing this the right way. Look forward to hearing your responses

Hi there. It’s definitely an extra challenging time. I have not tried virtual therapy, but I am doing some things on my own that have helped me deal primarily with anxiety. I have a couple of meditation apps that I listen to at night to help calm me (Calm and Insight Timer), I also listen to some faith-based apps, I read and also listen to (on YouTube) Claire Weekes, and I practice breathing exercises. I hope that helps.

Hi and welcome! I'm new too, well sorta I joined last week. I struggle with Depression/Anxiety/PTSD and Social Anxiety. Yes this unrest of what is going on makes it difficult to deal with. I can only go by "each minute is a new one" it takes all I have to get through the hour but somehow I find strength to do it. You're in the right place, we are here for you. I have too shut myself away from basically the outside, except for work, but other than that I'm pretty closed off. I don't watch any type of news and that helps. The news just feeds my illness. I hope things get better for you!

I've never combated my anxiety and depression but I am working on handling it, instead of it handling me. I am a senior and have had this all my life. Some years have been better than others. I have had 2 suicide attempts in my life, those were some of the not so good years. I feel pretty good now days. I have a therapist, I agree virtual appointments aren't as good as in person but it still helps me. I also have a Psychiatrist that over sees my meds. I take 4 meds and it took years of trial and error to find the meds that worked best for me. Knowing you need help is the starting point. Keep on trying different methods and meds to find what works for you. Don't give up! I'm proof that you can learn to deal with your mental health. I do have some advice: keep you ears over your shoulders and put a smile on your face daily, even if you don't want to. C'mon, smile.
