Hi...is mirtazapine to be taken on its own or is some other anti depressant taken with it?

Curious as my doctor is weaning me off Escitalopram. Answers would be appreciated.

It's often taken on its own.

It can also be safely combined with SSRIs and SNRIs. Where taken with Venlafaxine the combination is known as "California Rocket Fuel"; although whether it really deserves that name I have no idea.

If you're being switched to Mirtazapine, they could be crossed over a bit no problem.

Hi. I take Mirtazapine 7.5 mg before bed to help with sleep. I also take the generic to Prozac 40mg, and Xanax Xr 1 mg. in the morning. I don’t think Mirtazapine interferes with these other medications. And the dosage I take is low because it’s only used to help me get to sleep, I have bad insomnia brought on by anxiety.

I hope this helps.
