If it's your first one in a while, it can be. But once you establish trust with your therapist, it'll get easier. Just try and stay positive! 😀
Yes, it is normal, it is like you have a big whitehead spot & when you squeezze it all the pus & posion comes out! That is the best way to desribe it! All the bad stuff is coming out & while painful as it comes out, when it is all out healing can start & it librerating! I wish you the best with your Thepary I have had loads! Waiting for some more CBT! Here if you need to talk anytime if you want to talk
good luck with everything. Abby
Totally normal. You feel a sense of relief after letting off some of that baggage, like a well needed exhale. It’s a good worn out though. It’s good that you went, keep going and the feeling will get “better” each time.
Yes! I always feel like I have had a weight lifted off my shoulder, but "stirring the pot" and talking about things that I'd sometimes rather keep buried is exhausting, but like someone else said, it's a good exhausting. I feel cleansed and refreshed too though. I didn't know if I'd like it at first, but here I am 3 years later and I look forward to my monthly visit each time. My strategy is getting my appointments on my least busy day first thing in the morning when I'm off work, that way when I get home I can take a nice nap for a couple of hours and wake up feeling awesome.
I almost always feel the same way everyone is describing after going to see mine. I go in thinking "I can do this, just let it all out" and during that process there is anger, frustration and many times, tears but that is why I have a therapist. I needed a neutral party to help me cope and he does help with that immensely. I hope you continue going and develop a good relationship with your new therapist, best of luck friend!
