Hey everyone. I have a question, does anyone else have a hard time relating to people at work when the topic of mental health is brought up ? Or just want to avoid the conversation all together to avoid conflict ?

The Topic of Mental Health @ Work
Interesting question - mental health is a hot topic at work (I’m in healthcare)and in the public - the number of tv commercials are overwhelming. I had a major mental health break in 2019 that is better but still bad. I hate these conversations - I totally shut down and ignore the conversations
I avoid all conversations discussing mental health. For me it’s along the lines of discussing politics or religion, things can get uncomfortable, heated if it turns into a debate, someone always knows more about this or that.
I don’t like to exchange any info about my self or indulge in conversations that lead me to feeling bad later, not worth more negative influence over my mental health, I have enough as it is.
Absolutely, but more so outside of work. I’m a carpenter and work with all alpha types so “craziness” is accepted as normal along with self medicating, cursing and other types of abuse. Depression is a different monster though.
I only talk openly with a small circle
I avoid it, because, unfortunately, I know where I worked I would be reflected in a negative light and work places can be toxic as it is.
My situation is a little different. I worked as a psychiatric nurse at a community mental health center. I would never ever talk about myself, though others have no problem with laying out their private lives for all to analyze. I say if it makes you uncomfortable don’t participate.
