Hi, I have just been diagnosed with anxiety and depression and been prescribed mirtazapine 15mg but after reading the side effects I am reluctant to start taking them and was wondering if there was a non medication way to treat it. I have worked so hard to lose over 9 stone in weight that I don't want to put it all back on because of the medication.

Welcome!

Well done you on losing weight. From my exerience the Mirtazapine is best taken at night to avoid daytime drowsiness. 😴Weight gain is not a given because each person's chemistry is different. Talking matters through with a mental health professional is still required. You should check in with the prescriber for reasoning behind using meds in their treatment plan for you. If you prefer something else, don't be afraid to speak up. It's your body & mind after all.

There is a way with out medicine. There's meditation techniques, certain foods to avoid and to help. Obviously u know caffeine can cause anxiety so limit that. Music and art therapy. Exercises and dance therapy. Its up to the individual and talk to ur psychologist about what suits you.
