Just looking for suggestions from others who have or do suffer from anxiety driving on highways. I have had it for almost 14 years. Started out with vertigo which made me nervous then I started avoiding highway driving.

Highway Driving Anxiety
Hi, it’s ok to feel anxious.....means your senses are on full alert .....drive slowly and carefully...be sure about your directions ...allow plenty of time to get to your destination...put some calming music on
I’m the same! Mine started and continues because I have vertigo that comes and go. It’s also starting to creep into street driving, especially at night.
I have vertigo related to either vestibular migraines and Benign paroxysmal positional Vertigo. It effects my walking and balance more in the last several months. Nighttime driving is not easy especially if it’s snowing. Have you had any luck with medication?
What my friend does to avoid Highways is to find a road that doesn't have many cars for example my friend doesn't like to drive around cars or be around cars so she thinks of places where she goes that she can find a short cut or a way that not much cars will be. It is harder to find and kinda waste of gas but if you are really anxious when you drive, try drinking something like soda or something with sugar it will change your mindset, or try having candy in your mouth as you drive yes you mainly be focused on the candy but it will get you off the idea of getting anxious. Please be careful and please be safe. I get Anxious when I practice driving because it's scary to drive a car and a lot of crazy people but if you don't feel comfortable driving then don't drive or talk to your doctor about getting anxious while driving hopefully they can help.
