XANAX EXTENDED RELEASE VS THE PLAIN

With my severe anxiety/depression my doctor referred me to a Psychiatrist for better care with meds. I had my first visit with him and he would like to switch my .5 mg xanax 2 - 3 times a day to one xanax extended release along with Quetiapine at bedtime as a sleep aid. I also take Wellbutrim in the morning. I'm wondering if anyone has switched their xanax like that, and if you could share your experiences with it.

If I was you I would talk to your doctor about getting off the Xanax and staying off the Xanax. The longer you are on this medication the worse off you will be ever at dealing with anxiety on your own. Benzodiazepines are also very toxic. They are also extremely addictive. They should only be prescribed for very very short term and for emergency situations only. People become addicted in his little as 10 days. The drug can also start the cause paradoxical reaction. You just keep needing more and more tokeep your body from being sick. Then the drug can actually cause anxiety instead of helping it. This is a link that explains what benzodiazepines do to the body. Please work with your existing psychiatrist and see if you can get off a Xanax. Educate yourself on go on a site look up doctor Heather Ashton. She was one of the world's premier benzodiazepine experts rent a benzodiazepine withdrawal clinic for many years. benzobuddies.org/forum/inde...

Import every means of dealing with anxiety without drugs. Exercise as much as possible if you can take tai chi chi gong yoga do things you like stay busy read get a hobby volunteer. I know it's hard with this Coronavirus. But it should ease up pretty soon and get out and do as much as you can there are so many things you can do to naturally help your anxiety and deal with it without taking a toxic drug like Xanax.

I would also recommend finding a different drug as a sleep aid. If you must take one. Seroquel is an anti-psychotic and at a low dose primarily acts as an antihistamine. Antihistamines are not a good way of falling asleep. Antihistamines will cause cognitive difficulty. They can impair your thinking and judgment. Depending on your dose of Seroquel they can also start inducing and hitting other brain receptors. Seroquel is not a good drug at all

I have read these posts MANY times. Not everyone becomes addicted or dependent on Xanax. I take it as needed. I have to say sometimes I take .25 mg and sometimes I need 1 mg for an entire day. I take during a tough time and then I am able to stay off of it. By using the dosage that I need, I am able to not feel dependent on it. It also works at the lowest dosage at times and I dont need to take my full 1 mg as prescribed. I understand your concern in posting about the addictive nature of xanax. However, some of us have found it to be miracle worker during the tough times. I think with any drug or natural remedy always work with your doctor and your own body to determine what is best for you. If you have an addictive nature, it maybe not the best choice. If you are managing well and functioning with taking xanax-- why not? As long as you are under a doctors care. I see my doctor atleast twice a year and she needs to renew my rx. No refills without seeing her!
