Hi anyone out there taking anti depressants for pregnant women ? I ask as just had gallbladder removed and cannot take any drugs that give me constipation.
I thought maybe these type of anti depressants would be more gentle on my body ?
Does anybody have knowledge or experience around this matter as my GP is not that great.
Generally I understand it can be dependent on how far along you are. However I have heard Doctors would prefer you not to take drugs like these.
Although you are not sure of your Doctor, still talk to him about this problem, are you linked to a Maternity Department Course yet

I was on setraline whilst pregnant. The safest one in pregnancy the doctor said.
As a midwife generally Sertraline is the medication that is preferred in pregnancy however I've seen women on mitazipine as well - it's a balancing act on what keeps you well and also doesn't affect the growing baby. I always said to my ladies you need to be well to look after baby so if that means your in hospital a few extra days whilst baby is monitored for any withdrawal then so what. Just think of all things people do whist pregnant and have healthy babies
