Hi Gjkas. I saw your post about painful & swollen feet. I also have arthritis in my feet and I had guided steroid injections which really helped. This was done in outpatients and took less than half an hour! Also, so far as pain relief is concerned, I have been on Fentanyl Patches for over 10 years and they have really helped with no side effects. I think that GP's can be reluctant to prescribe them as they are very expensive but my chronic pain consultant started me on them and the GP the has to represcribe! I hope that this helps you x

Hi Bass, i haven't had the guided Steroid injections. Ive had the Depo Steroid injections in top and bottom of my Spine, but sadly they didn't work for me.

I'v also . tried the Fentanyl Patches but I was only on them for 4 days. I felt as though my body was full of bees stinging me from the inside. So i stopped using them. Do you think that I should have used them for a little while longer .

I was on the Butrans Patches and had to come off them to go on the Fentanyl Patches. But now im back on the Butrans Patches. They're not any good for Fibromyalgia pain ..I just don't know what to try next for the pain. Been on Morphine tablets but they irritated my stomach really bad. Can't take Oral morph, that just made me Puke.

I've been with Chronic Pain Management now for about 7 years. But we don't get to see them very often. It's actually my legs that are the worst. I can hardly stand on them now because of the pain.

I'll ask about the guided Steroid injections when I see them next..In the meantime,if you can think of anything else that could help me, please get in touch...Thanks for your help and advice.

Really appreciated 12😊.x

Also, ask them about giving the Fentanyl Patches longer and slowly increase to find he right level for you I started on 12mcg/HR and slowly increased to 100mcg/HR. I am trying.ti reduce them a bit at the moment as that is a really high dose. Maybe slow introduction helped my body accept the Fentanyl better, I'm not sure, but it has to be worth talking to your chronic pain consultant. Also, you can request a quicker appointment by ringing their secretary. I hope that this is helpful.

Thanks Bass for getting back to me..

Yes,, I'll ask about the Fentanyl Patches again. I've got an appointment with Pain Management next month. Everything always seem to come all at the same time. I'm having Gallbladder removal and Bile Ducts unblocked within the next few weeks. Tomorrow i have to have another Heart Scan before the Anaesthetist will give me the Anaesthetic. I failed my Pre Admission Assessment. So i had to see the Anaesthetic Consultant. Now she will have to have the results of the scan before she will give me the Anaesthetic.Im in so much pain. I wish it was all over and done with.

I can't start the Fentanyl either yet. I'll only have to come off it for a week before I have the operation.

The same thing with the Butrans Patches. I'll be climbing the walls..
