Can you be prescribed Xanax and Ativan at the same time.... used interchangeably not together
Just looking for some clarification not an argument re: Benzos

I can’t imagine that too many MDs would fathom prescribing both Ativan and Xanax at the same time as they’re both quite potent drugs and in the same classification.
Mind you this is from a rehab site so it mentions people who abuse and are addicted to the meds but it might give you some insight on taking the two medications together.

I guess I’m not talking about mixing.
I’m saying possible one Xanax at night. One Ativan in the morning
This is a question you need to ask your psychiatrist and/or pharmacist, as we are not in a position to give that sort of information. Be safe and speak to an MD or a pharmacist regarding the use of medications. We don’t want to dole out any incorrect information.
I'm not a doctor. But in my experience both Xanax and Ativan are the same class of drug, (benzodiazapine)so I doubt if they would do anything more than be basically a double dose.
Ask your doctor about something that would work with either of them.
I guess what I’m asking is, can you take an Ativan in the morning and a Xanax at night?
They are both shorter acting meds so it doesn't make much sense to have both prescribed. Although Ativan lasts a little longer than Xanax.
I know what you are asking. There was a time I was on a long acting ( clonopin ) in the am and short acting ( Ativan ) for sleep.
I have a friend on clonopin daily with Xanax for breakthrough.
If the md orders it that way then that's what you do. It is strange.
