Very anxious and depressed today got a call last night that I've lost another friend at a relatively young age 65.

Most I know is complications from a previous heart attack. It's no wonder anxiety and depression is so high when dealing with heart palpitations and issues whether it be anxiety related or not when it is a fact that heart disease is the number one killer in the United States surpassing cancer the last I heard and I have lost another friend to prove it. So please if anyone can tell me how not to be anxious about heart palpitations and about ectopic Beats when it has in fact changed my life and continues to be a source of depression and anxiety for me. Especially when it's all around.

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. What a horrible time for you. My fears mostly are around cancer and when I hear of someone else I know being diagnosed, it only reinforces the fear. I can imagine how you feel; it’s a mixture of sadness for the loss of a friend combined with a fear for yourself. If you’re anything like me, probably guilt for feeling that way, too.

I don’t know if that statistic is true, but assuming it is, what I will say is this ...

Heart disease may be the biggest killer in the US but heart disease is not the most common cause of heart palpitations etc.

It’s an inescapable truth that these illnesses/diseases etc exist but that doesn’t mean that everything is a sign of them.

Anxiety and depression rob you of far more in the end than the diseases do, in my personal experience.

I am so sorry you are feeling this anxiety and sadness. I can certainly understand why and I wish I had the words that would take your fears away. I do not know whether you are a believer in Christ or not. I am and I find comfort in a number of the scriptures. When I am really scared, saying scripture verses out loud or reading them over, or singing songs of praise and peace help me. One of my favorite verses is: Jeremiah 29:11: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Another is Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

I also really like Psalm 139. Read the entire Psalm for its wealth of treasures, but verse 16 says, "All the days ordained for me were written in your book

before one of them came to be." That means, you are not going to lose your life one day sooner, one hour sooner, than was already planned for you. No heart attack can take you one minute earlier than is already planned for you. That psalm also says that God knows everything about you. He knows every thought you think, every word you speak, every action you take. And there is never any place you can go that he is not already with you. You will never go through anything alone.

Another one I love is Isaiah 26:3: You will keep in perfect peace

all who trust in you,

all whose thoughts are fixed on you

This is a Keeping Your Eyes on Jesus Moment.

Here is one song that really helps me when I am scared. I sing it over and over again:

This is another song that I sing.

They are short, easy to remember, and if I sing the words over and over, they really help calm me.

Hello! Thank you for your words of encouragement.!! And the songs.

Fact is.. yes I truly am a believer in the Bible and in Our Heavenly Father!! He has been at MANY times my sole source of encouragement and a peace that keeps things in perspective. I'm so thankful for people like you who remind me that the word of God keeps me always from fear harm and anything thats scary sad depressing or anxious. He has given his words to direct us and keep us in our path. Thank you my friend for reminding me of this!!!

I am sorry for your loss. glad you reached out here . you are not alone. my mother has irregular heartbeat and high blood pressure. I understand your concern. it is a mix of fears, worries and unknown what ifs. the best thing my mother says is that to keep your mind busy on something positive. best results are positive activity that's productive not just busy work. she says take one moment at a time, one day at a time. her key to getting thru the day is retraining herself that she believes in herself and is valuable. she focuses on what she can do well. not what she cant do as much of or not at all. for it leads to negativity. soooo. believe in your good talents, what you can do. build off that. develop it more.
