I was just laid off today after 12 years employment with a company. I’m in shock. I’m depressed. This year has been pretty tough. I have been looking because I had a feeling this was going to happen. I need another job I’m the sole provider. Any suggestions would be great.

12 years is a long time. I can understand why you'd be shocked and depressed. I haven't been laid off like that, but I was without steady work for a few years when my anxiety was at its worst. If you can afford it, I think it's helpful to give yourself a few days or weeks to rest and recover and get focused on what you want to do next. The economy is generally good and you've already been looking, so those are points in your favor. When I was out of steady work, I reached out to my professional contacts, took the opportunity to learn some new skills, and even tried my own business for a while. There may be discouragement, but don't give up. The right place for you is out there. Good luck and take care.
I was medically retired after about twenty six years, and never worked since then. I have done voluntary work etc. Now I am a pensioner. So I think that I understand where you are coming from. Your twelve years is a good slice of your live and it is important you sit and consider what you wish to do, taking into consideration age and experience you have.
All I can suggest is, go down to the Employment Office and discuss what you are looking for.
You could ask about courses to retrain. Try also Employment Agencies, and register with them.
Sometimes if you do Voluntary work that can show an interest in work and you may get a job or position that would suit you. Remember employers prefer to give employment to those already working, Voluntary work can help in some situations
If you have a trade that can also help, in retraining or some other occupations.
