Do anyone here take Topamax? If so for what, any side effects, does it work, do you like it?
Topamax: Do anyone here take Topamax... - Anxiety and Depre...
Topamax
I read that it’s supposed to be an antidepressant, it then says that it gives you suicidal thoughts..smh
I was on it for a week. I lost my short term memory. I couldn't remember what I was doing, was putting things in the wrong places, couldn't focus etc
There's a slang term for topamax it's called
Dope a max. That's what I felt like on it. I was put on it for migraine prevention.
I know some people on it that have had no problems at all. Once again, it shows how our body chemistries react different to meds.
If you look at side effects on most of the psych meds the suicide risk is listed.
They wanna give it to me to prevent pms headaches, reading the side effects I knew I was gonna pass on it, but I still had to ask to see if anybody had taken it before. But I also saw it was used as an antidepressant & just wondered why is this given for any reason
Pamelor & Amitryptiline are even worse.
I didn’t get offended why you think that? I simply replied
Topamax was originally intended to treat seizures. Often given now to prevent migraines. When you start taking it, you may feel weird. I woke up the first night seeing colored lights shoot across the walls of my room and feeling paranoid that someone was going to kill me. That effect is brief, however. You may begin to lose some weight, as it decreases your appetite (my doctors say the ladies like it because of that). It does work to decrease the migraines. But it dampens the activity in the frontal lobes of the brain, so you don't think differently but somehow you're not able to communicate as well, in that you can't think of the right word to say, or express your thoughts and feelings as well. On my last go 'round with it, I eventually felt emotionally isolated enough that I came off of it.
