App with cardio

I had my final app with cardio and have been discharged for the cardio clinic . I have had heart palpations for nearly four years . I suffer for ectopic beats more so than fluttering or fast racing heart . It’s like a thud and then moves on as normal . So I have had many heart monitors ecg tests . Echo and stress test . Only one heart monitor that was on for 48 hours showed a few skipped beats . And they saw they r minor or benign . Basically the doctor told me nothing is wrong with me . Ha like you swear it was all in my head . He made me feel like shit . All the suffering I have had and basically told it’s nothing to worry about . So now what . Never been on or will they give me heart medication as I don’t need it .

As Laurie would know to I'm in the same boat and is she and me 4 years too. They are the worst and don't make life enjoyable and have given me health anxiety. How often do you feel them?

I've been 4 years worth amd nothing helps the fear of the symptom. It's can't be anxiety!

I've had them since I was in my teens. I'm 39 now. Eventually, you start getting more and more desensitized to them. When mine became more frequent (happening thousands of times every day, sometimes every 2 to 3 beats), I never would have believed I'd get used to them. I still sometimes get anxious about them, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep. Let the reassurance from your cardio who has seen it hundreds, if not thousands, of times help put your mind to rest. Be thankful you don't have to rely on a medication. Do things that help focus your brain. Get your heart rate up by taking a brisk walk (often a faster heartbeat will help quell the ectopics for a little while). Do a crossword or word search. Watch a funny movie. Take a drive. I promise it gets easier.

Thank you for your comment x

I had all the regular checks and reassurance from Doctors that nothing was wrong with my heart. Relief from anxiety over this came not just because I eventually got an appointment with a consultant. He told me I had a healthy heart even though I’d had a hole fixed as a child and that there was nothing he was concerned about. He explained what all the irregular bumps were about. He was so kind and he smiled.

Here’s the best bit: he said that I could always make another appointment to see him the following year if my anxiety persisted.

It didn’t.

Final appointments and being discharged are not completely final and forever if you need to go through the process again.

In the meantime you got us 🤗

Thanks for your lovely comment . So glad you got great results . My partner keeps saying it’s great . But my palps make me shudder . Over the the last four years I have improved and I have learned to cope .
