Sunday Scaries

Does anyone else find their anxiety gets worse on Sundays? I always seem to get the most anxious on Sunday afternoons than any other time (without a clear reason for the anxiety being present).

I have heard that this is common especially if you have work anxiety. It has a name. Sunday blues or something. Anyway I often experienced this.

YES!!! This is how I used to feel.EXACTLY!! But I got rid of that feeling a few years ago. I used to start feeling that horrible depression about 4 or 5:00 on a Sunday. I don't know if it will work for other people, but it did for me. I got everything done for Monday, much earlier on Sunday than I used to. Cleaning, showering, chores, whatever. So I let myself have a long night on Sunday to just relax. It felt like I could handle Monday much easier that way, and I definitely do!

I do just for the reason that there’s a new week coming and now we have to wait till next Friday to be off work again

As a child I'd get anxious on a Sunday because I had school on Monday and I was bullied at school. Maybe that's why?

YES!! Every Sunday I wake up with the worst anxiety and usually have it most of the day! I have to make it a point to do something I enjoy on Sundays to relieve this feeling. I try to make plans that evening or late afternoon with a friend. I think it's because the work week starts on Monday and the weekend that I have looked forward to all week is coming to an end..... I wish weekends were at least 3 days, not just 2!

I understand the Sunday stressors. I try to make sure i secure a 15 minute nap in the afternoon and a extra session of meditation and get a good night sleep. I also try to listen to a calming meditation on my way to work so I do not show up anxious which then takes me two hours to calm down. This is natural by the way you just are starting a new week after a hopefully peaceful weekend with no stressors. Try to dump your mind and think of the happy things on Monday sometimes that works for me. Keep the faith

I agree Sunday is a major trigger for me. I try to remind myself I am still off from work and its my day to unwind. I try to find distractions, but it is one of biggest days for anxiety and being sluggish. I think you have to force yourself through the thoughts and feelings to get out.

Yes, I hate Sunday. I wonders the same thing.

I think that over the weekend the adrenaline decreases and that can make you start overthinking about the week ahead. Once Monday comes, the adrenaline kicks in and heyho the anxiety fades! 😊
