My little black weatherboard cottage crouches by the side of a busy country lane with traffic going by, but I have a big wildlife garden where it is possible to find a little peace. When I wander to the bottom of the garden and walk into the field by a wooden gate I can enter another world and feel a wave of relaxation pass through me.
A cloud of brown butterflies fills the air and I can hear a skylark singing above.
I managed to get a photograph of this beautiful orange and brown butterfly as it had settled on a pink wild blackberry blossom in the hedgerow. It is a Comma butterfly and it struck me that the name was very appropriate for this moment. I was taking a pause from the stressful frenetic pace of ordinary life to be in this meadow for this moment before having to return. The pause would be enough to help me stay in the moment and feel relaxed. I was able to just be, with this beautiful butterfly, the meadow grass and hedgerow and the blue sky above with the little skylark singing her heart out.
