Hey guys. 21 year old with a good life living with anxiety and depression; I have been since I was young. Most of my anxiety is anything social; work & friends & anything about getting out of my house basically. I have a very supportive bf who helps as best as he but seeing as he doesn’t suffer with this as I do this is where I’m turning to. My anxiety & depression is ruining my life and I’m just trying to find answers.

Welcome. I'm fairly new here also.

What are you doing to help yourself with your depression and anxiety? Therapy? Meds? Exercise?

You will find a lot of support here.

I do a lot of praying even though I’m not even a church goer anymore. That’s basically it. I want to start exercising though. I walk my dog sometimes and that makes me feel better. I’m very scared of meds. I heard it causes a lot of weight gain and I struggle with weight as well. My bf is my rock and my biggest supporter but lately I’ve just been needing more support from people that actually get it

Yes, I understand. My husband does the best he can with me ... lol! But, he isn't in my head.

Are you in therapy? I'm in therapy and it's something that has helped me a lot. I am on meds. I did have s problem with one med that made me gain weight. I talked with my Md and she took me off it because I didn't want to deal with medical issues from being overweight. The weight came right off after I stopped the med.

We all have to find what works best for us. I read a lot of self help books and I meditate and do yoga.

You have a dog, that's lovely. They can occupy our minds and calm us.

Do you work or go to school? Do you have activities that you enjoy? Things you do for yourself?

Ruining is such a hard word! Lol seriously why not start by changing your perspective about your healing journey. It’s a moment in your life where you need to be extra caring and kind to yourself through thoughts. Yes life isn’t perfect as you want it to be but you need to accept it and be okay with it to start seeing the opportunity for growth. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Breath your 21 not 97 lol relax and focus on ways to learn and grow and care for yourself listen to your body and mind

I have that same type of anxiety. I really don’t like going out but I have sometimes and when I do I realize it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. And I realize that it was actually good for me.

I am sorry to hear your anxiety and depression are getting worse. Many people have found that taking magnesium (magnesium malate is best) and ginseng helped a lot w both, they calm the mind body and spirit and get rid of sticky negative thoughts the loop around in the mind. Also, getting outside, laying on the grass to get grounded and breathe in fresh air, looking at stars, these things help a lot too. Our environment help or hurt our mental health and physical health. Also, Volunteering helps us get our of our own misery to help others, which helps us. Hoping this helps you too!
