Depakote?

I'm currently on Pristiq, Wellbutrin and trazodone. My MH provider is considering Depakote. I've never taken a mood stabilizer as I'm not the bipolar type. Any words out there about Depakote?

Depakote is fine, but none of the meds come without side effects. I won’t list them here, but I would recommend doing some research before taking. I would also ask about possible interactions between all of your meds. Lastly, it wouldn’t hurt to ask your provider how often or IF they check your Depakote level while taking it.

Yeah I'm trying to do some research on Depakote. I'm not real keen on that checking the blood level thing. Up to this point side effects of meds haven't really been an issue. I want to keep it that way.

They’ll definitely need to keep an eye on that level. Are you receiving therapy too?

Not sure how bad your symptoms are but adding a mood stabilizer to your current medication will hopefully improve your symptoms. I do whatever my psychiatrist offers. We work well as a team. If no change you can stop it after a standard trial period.

Personally I would give it a go. What have you got to lose?
