We were discussing a blog article about modern day mental issues and we started having fun with the idea how to explain different states of mind to people who do not have them.
And since most people have computers, and especially younger people have good knowledge about all the procedures, it is interesting to try and describe issues with analogs in computer.
After all - we humans are sort of biological robots, with brain being our main computer.
My examples, feel free to add your own, correct mine etc. :
1. ADHD - is like having overclocked computer, to a point it starts lagging, while you have Photoshop, Chrome, Youtube, Word, E-mail Skype open and they all fight for the rights to work further.
2. Autism would be sporting 8-core processor and only 250Mb RAM. You can do something great, but only that one thing.
3. Dementia is like having your harddrive full of sand and it gets scraped and damaged as you go.
4. Depression is like having a normal Computer, but the energy supply is terrible, and the system constantly slows down.
5. Anxiety is like having no cooler on top of the main processor, so it constantly is on the brink of burning away, and the system desperately tries to stop overheating.
