Nobody “chooses” to be miserable.
It’s true that you can change your attitude about a situation, but that is not always as easy as just flipping a switch. Sometimes you have to think about it and go over it for a real change in your thinking to take place.
I don’t know if you believe in prayer. But when I’m having trouble accepting something - and I know I have to accept it - I ask God to meet me where I am, and make me willing to be willing.
