I have a light that is made for SAD. It helps a little bit. My depression is so much worse in the winter. I live in the midwest and all the leaves are gone, it is gray and cold. I try and get out in the sun when it is out.

Idk why but this site is just now letting me reply...but my therapist wants me to get a light, I’m from Michigan & extremely dark gray there I thought I would get a little relief since I relocated to the South but not much

I too suffer from SAD. I especially fall into it when the clocks are set back in the fall. And rainy days are hard especially with a dark sky during the day.

When hubby and I bought our home 20 years ago it was an absolute must our house has southern exposure where a lot of sunlight comes in on sunny days. Also I’ve noticed now that we’re 3/4 through February, the days are getting longer. It’s dark around 6p now. In a few weeks we set the clocks ahead and I cherish that.

I love Spring. It’s my favorite season. I take walks on sunny Spring days and very closely look at the new growth on the trees and plants. Spring is the beginning of life or refreshment for me. All that helps with my SAD.

I hope yours can be treated as well. Especially sunny days is such great medicine for us.

Idk why but this site is just now letting me reply back to people...I know exactly, it’s extremely hard during those months, I’m from Michigan it’s extremely dark there & it’s crazy how my body automatically knows the seasons have changed. I have a countdown on my phone for spring I can’t wait to feel normal

I know what that Spring Countdown feels like. When I see the first regrowth on plants and trees it’s uplifting. ☺️

Absolutely Lol...you can just smell the relief 🤗

I've heard that the special light does wonders. I think that if I lived farther north, I would have a problem. I just read that you are seven times more likely to suffer from SAD if you live in New York compared to Florida. I think if it very severe, it would make good sense to see your doctor. Because SAD may be caused by changes in neurotransmitters, an antidepressant would really help. I'll be praying you get some more sun!

Yeah I’ve had therapists tell me about the light since I’m anti-medication, Northern sates tend to be darker than Southern states, I’m from Michigan just relocated to SC but I’ve had no relief just yet. Thank you it’s definitely needed
