My name is AImee and I have been struggling with anxiety for roughly 10 years and went through a period of diagnosed depression during my college years. I never wanted to admit that I had anxiety but through meditation and yoga, I have come to terms with it and am ready to start truly healing. I want to start a support group in my area to help others who are dealing with the stresses of life and possibly help them be able to manage it with or without the use of medical pills. When I was diagnosed with depression, I was put on Lexapro by my doctor. I did not feel any sort of change besides the mentality of being on anti-depressants. Ultimately, the anxiety kept growing stronger and deeper. I decided after a few years of being on meds that I wanted to try a holistic approach to heal my anxiety, so I tried yoga. Yoga has been a huge help and I recently got certified to teach. I want to know if anyone has an opinion on support groups combined with yoga session or if anyone has been to a support group/yoga combination that has helped?

Hello Almee, I think that is a fantastic idea! I have participated in therapy focused yoga classes before, and I found them to be very healing. Stretching and exerting energy while talking through difficult things was very cathartic for me. Thank you for sharing your story, and congrats on your certification!
