I constantly feel like I am drowning. I cant breathe or move. Work is my biggest stressor and i cant turn it off or sleep. I dont know what to do. My meds arent helping and i feel so hopeless. I would do anything to change this feeling. I need more help.

Thank you. I hope you feel better too. I know how hard it is. Just wish it would get easier faster

You are obviously unhappy at work to cause you such stress - is it work overload so you feel completely exhausted? When you are at work there are always people around. Now you are on your own and having to cope with symptoms which are affecting your breathing. Have you tried deep breathing exercises to see how long you can breathe in and hold it then let the breath our slowly? Other things that might help, are finding a diversion such as knitting or listening to music or doing a pile of ironing ha! Is this your first course of medication?

If so then you could look up the drugs on drugs.com to see if there are any side affects such as problems with breathing. If there are, you would be recommended to stop the course and go back to your doctor for a change in medication. Sometimes a walk in the fresh air might help. Some drugs can depress the nervous system affecting breathing.

I am sorry for the hopelessness, stress, and sense of drowning that you feel. I hope that you have spoken with your physician about the way that you are feeling. As mentioned by Hawii, your medication may need to be something that is reviewed. I hope that you are able to keep in communication with your care provider about the way that you are feeling.

Also, make sure that you are taking care of yourself. If other areas of your life are manageable, it may make the work aspect more tolerable. Perhaps some of these resources may be helpful? list.ly/list/2EUz-the-selfl...

Or it may be time to start looking for a new job. Perhaps it is something that you could pray, journal about, and ask people that you trust about.

Also, have you seen a therapist to help provide you with grounding exercises when you are anxious? I would be glad to provide you additional resources on managing anxiety if you feel it would be helpful.
