Has anyone been on these before on 20mg? I’ve been on them since March and they did help me get thru a bad time but these past few weeks I feel like they have just stopped working 😩 I’ve got all my anxiety symptoms back and I feel like I’m not coping again. Should I try for a med change or up the dose first to see if it helps?
Citalopram: Has anyone been on these... - Anxiety and Depre...
Citalopram
I can not taken any or try anti depression med
Because anxiety is no depression
So that is what my specialist told me
So only benzo
Some people are against Klonopin but...,, for me, it’s been a lifesaver !!
because all the crap I have had to face and I managed to get through it and not suffer a severe panic attack and I’m still here...
to me that shows it works - I just take it when I need it & you do not overdo ——- like I said some people disagree with me and that’s ok...
Everybody is different & each person’s body chemistry is different ( I have extremely high tolerance, I always have from young )
but what you have to do — is your own research and go to a doctor you know (a good doctor) not a quack and see what he says
DM me lets talk about it DNP advice here
I was on that for 12 years and it did help out of all the countless others I tried. You still get some depression and anxiety but it does help when needed ...maybe your doctor should give you Ativan too to help calm you when your panicking or they can recommend something else. I know that helped me when I was in really bad shape in my 20's...and Citalopram helped alot
I had to up my dose to 40. Every once in a while I will feel anxiety creep up on me, but it never goes to full scale panic. Just a few deep, slow breaths and I'm on my way with whatever I was doing.
I’ve been on 20mg for a while now but it’s just past few weeks I’ve noticed I’m slowly creeping back to where I started when I couldn’t breathe properly and not sleeping again. Nd tightness in the throat again 😩 do u think docs will up my dose first before trying me with a different med? Xx
Mine did when I told him it wasn't totally getting the job done. There is another issue where your brain receptors reduce in number because with the meds your system senses that it has all it needs. Sometimes a med "holiday" for a couple of weeks is in order to increase those receptors and uptake more medication. Ask your physician about that too.
It's What I Call A "Base Anxiety Med"
These Meds Can Take 4 To 6 Weeks To Kick In. Yours Should Be Helping Long By Now.
Here's A Little Ifno:
Citalopram HBR
COMMON BRAND(S): Celexa
GENERIC NAME(S): Citalopram
Uses
Citalopram is used to treat depression. It may improve your energy level and feelings of well-being. Citalopram is known as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This medication works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.
How to use Citalopram HBR
Read the Medication Guide and, if available, the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start taking citalopram and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Take this medication with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily in the morning or evening. The dosage is based on your medical condition, response to treatment, age, laboratory tests, and other medications you may be taking. Be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). The maximum dosage for citalopram is 40 milligrams per day.
To reduce your risk of side effects, your doctor may direct you to start taking this drug at a low dose and gradually increase your dose. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully. Do not increase your dose or use this drug more often or for longer than prescribed. Your condition will not improve any faster, and your risk of side effects will increase. Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.
It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your doctor. Some conditions may become worse when this drug is suddenly stopped. Also, you may experience symptoms such as mood swings, headache, tiredness, sleep changes, and brief feelings similar to electric shock. To prevent these symptoms while you are stopping treatment with this drug, your doctor may reduce your dose gradually. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for more details. Report any new or worsening symptoms right away.
It may take 1 to 4 weeks to feel a benefit from this drug and up to several weeks before you get the full benefit.
Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.
Side Effects
See also Warning and Precautions sections.
Nausea, dry mouth, loss of appetite, tiredness, drowsiness, sweating, blurred vision, and yawning may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: shaking (tremor), decreased interest in sex, changes in sexual ability, easy bruising/bleeding.
Get medical help right away if you have any very serious side effects, including: fainting, fast/irregular heartbeat, black stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, seizures, eye pain/swelling/redness, widened pupils, vision changes (such as seeing rainbows around lights at night).
This medication may increase serotonin and rarely cause a very serious condition called serotonin syndrome/toxicity. The risk increases if you are also taking other drugs that increase serotonin, so tell your doctor or pharmacist of all the drugs you take (see Drug Interactions section). Get medical help right away if you develop some of the following symptoms: fast heartbeat, hallucinations, loss of coordination, severe dizziness, severe nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, twitching muscles, unexplained fever, unusual agitation/restlessness.
