Hi Mizziemoo, I took the same thing for several years for depression not anxiety. At that time, I hadn't been officially diagnosed as bipolar so I'm on different meds now. I'm not sure how much the Citalopram helped me back then, but I didn't really experience any negative side effects.

Hi there I Was on citalopram for several years I didn't have any side effects to speak of I was put on 10mg to start then doubled to 20mg it helped but eventually I had to have it changed to venlafaxine because my depression had gotten worse I was also put on amitriptalene an quetiapine and whilst I still have problems it not as bad! Please take the citalopram for at least 4,6 weeks if you think its not working go back to your doctor I wish you all the best 🙏

I was on 40mg and didn't have any side effects. I recently had to change medications and it is a very worrying process as you don't know what side effects you may get. However, I had to ask myself, 'is staying in the same position going to help me with my newly arrived depression or is changing pills and seeing the potential that change may bring'.

Hiya I’ve just started 10 mg citalopram 4 days ago. Not much to report so far. I had the tablets 2 month before I started them as I was truly petrified of the side effects, I still am but I needed to try them as I can’t cope with the anxiety and panic , let me know how you get on

Thinking of you

Hi Thankyou for your support. I decided I just had to take the plunge and try them. I’m on day 8 and so far not been too bad. I had quite bad anxiety and palpitations first 2 days but think it was due to my anxiety about taking them!! Still anxious and nothing happened so far but still early days. Good luck on your journey to recovery too.

Hopefully yes . Don’t think I could go through stress of trying different tablets. We should be pleased that we have made the first steps of taking them massive achievement 😊. I also have my first session of CBT in a few weeks. I am determined to get my life back .
